Description: Rituals, festivals and food--the elements of culture of the Mexican community in New York--are the subject matter for Mary Teresa Giancoli's current body of work. The photographer began this project at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Manhattan recording people in prayer and devotion and during special celebrations such as this First Communion. Giancoli shoots in natural light with a box camera. The richness and subtlety of her photographs is barely suggested in the digital image presented here. This image is also available in a larger print; please email or phone for pricing. Giancoli prints her photographs in editions of 20 or fewer. Buyer pays shipping and insurance.
