Art Critique Service

Studio visits among artists are rarer now than in decades past. Friends and relatives tend to be highly subjective--both in their praise and in their criticism--of an artist's output. As a result, many artists work in a vacuum. Biddington's Art Critique Service is designed to offer substantive feedback for art students (over 18 yrs.), serious amateur artists and professional artists.

Why are Biddington's comments useful?

Biddington's offers an engaged eye, well-practiced in viewing many genres of contemporary art. We make an effort to keep current with work being shown in galleries and studios--especially in New York City. And we travel to see art in galleries, museums and studios elsewhere in the world. We are interested in the broadest reach of contemporary art.

What is included in your critique?

The critique is in email (or letter) form and includes comments on our assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the work(s) presented. We might also suggest other artists (contemporary or historical) whose work could be helpful. We may also refer you to other sources or areas of concentration that could be useful in pushing the work ahead. If you've ever sat through a "crit" in art or design school, our commentary format will seem familiar. For professional artists, our feedback is more conversational--rather like a virtual studio visit.

What types of art do you critique?

We are happy to review all genres and media: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, prints, digital art and new media.
