Description: In beautifully made artworks that combine printmaking and painting, Eduardo Fausti explores themes from the natural world. Fausti is as interested in natural history as in cultural history. And, in visual terms, he muses about what happens when the two come together.
This painting entitled "Ginger" uses imagery related to a root that for centuries has been used in healing, especially in the Far East. The figure of a Chinese healer is a reminder to that effect. The red Kanji at his side means "ginger", while the other Kanjis are part of a cooking recipe than contains ginger. At the top of the painting, the mountainous landscape resembles geographical areas in southern China where ginger grows.
