Description:
In his 2004-2005 "Ghosts" series of paintings, painter and filmmaker Todd Bellanca uses more gestural strokes than in his prior works where a geometric crispness prevailed. In "The Porcelain Suite", a touch of Franz Kline seems to be entering Bellanca's poetic and cinematic vision. Using both matte and metallic paints, the surface of this painting has a seductive quality; it possesses a tactile as well as visual allure: We want not only to see into it, but to reach into it as well.
