Description: Realist printmaker and painter Bill Murphy possesses a talent for capturing the mystery and beauty of urban scenes at nighttime. This dramatic cityscape image entitled "Night Construction, South Ferry" shows a work site at night--the ferry terminal in lower Manhattan, a view familiar to the artist who lives on Staten Island. This artwork is produced in an edition of 10 etchings with drypoint. Because the artist then hand-colors the etching with watercolor, it is termed a "variable edition print". Since each one is unique, the hand-colored prints are signficantly more valuable than a more standard editioned print.
