Description: Recurring in painter/printmaker Betsey Garand's organic abstract artwork are images of nature and regeneration. Her 2003-2004 "Inkling" series of monotype prints explores these forms in lively colors. Monotypes are unique (one-of-a-kind) prints; Garand's "Inkling" series uses varying layers of colored inks in which the plate is run through the printing press as many as 8 times to achieve the desired result. Extensively exhibited, Betsey Garand is also represented in public collections including: Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Arkansas Art Center, UCLA Grunewald Center for the Graphic Arts and Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku (Japan). Formerly a teacher of drawing and printmaking at Princeton University, Betsey Garand currently serves on the faculty of Amherst College.
