Description:
In her 2004 "Prink" series of organic abstract watercolors, painter/printmaker Betsey Garand continues to explore her most enduring source of inspiration: nature and regeneration. The word "prink" means to dress up or deck out in a showy fashion. Garand takes delight in words. Respecting its title, the artist has embellished this artwork hand-embossing the paper with a square impression--making a crisp border for the lively watercolor. Extensively exhibited, Betsey Garand is also represented in public collections including: Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Arkansas Art Center, UCLA Grunewald Center for the Graphic Arts and Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku (Japan). Formerly a teacher of drawing and printmaking at Princeton University, Betsey Garand currently serves on the faculty of Amherst College.
