Description: Born in Germany in 1943, landscape artist Wulf Erich Barsch blends an adoration for the western landscape, mysticism and sacred symmetries--such as the Golden Mean--in his paintings. Barsch is credited with influencing a new generation of "Art and Belief" painters whose works reflect an interest in nature and the spiritual. For many years the artist, a convert to the Mormon religion, has taught at Utah's Brigham Young University.
This large painting by artist Wulf Erich Barsch is signed, dated and titled on the verso. It is included on page 33 of the catalogue of the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation, Vol II, LA 1985. This painting was exhibited at the San Antonio Art Institute in 1987. The BYU Museum of Art monograph on the artist, written by Judith McConkie, is entitled "Wanderings: Abraham, Ulysses and the Landscapes of Wulf Barsch". The artist is also listed in various editions of "Who's Who in American Art". In 1975, Barsch was a recepient of the prestigious "Prix de Rome". Buyer pays shipping and insurance. | |
