Description: Contemporary sculptor Richard Heinrich finds strong structural parallels between art and music; hence the title "Straight No Chaser"--an homage to jazz great Thelonious Monk. Like most of Richard Heinrich's welded steel sculpture, it is a tightly organized composition of intersecting planes. Despite the geometry of his works, Richard Heinrich's sculpture is rather gestural in nature. This large metal sculpture comfortably meets the ground. The artist enjoys evoking the weight of the steel; somehow this rigid material seems malleable in his hands. Sculptures by Richard Heinrich are on view in the collections of Grounds for Sculpture (Hamilton, NJ) and The Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). Richard Heinrich is also represented in collections including: Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, PepsiCo, General Electric, Chemical Bank and American Express.

The scale of this artwork makes it suitable for an ample interior space or for an exterior site. Remember: Like a person, a sculpture energizes the area around it. So, it requires quite a lot more space than its footprint might indicate. Depending on the sculpture's destination, there may be an additional shipment charge, in excess of that calculated at checkout. Of course, we confirm all such charges in advance of any billing. Biddington's offers resources for help in siting, as well as transporting, medium and large-scale sculpture.
