Description:
Purchased some years ago from the close-out of a trading post on the Big Reservation, this remarkable necklace combines old European glass beads, perhaps Czech, with a pair of turquoise jacla earrings. The seven strand necklace consists mainly of slender red-orange beads interrupted with the same and smaller clear glass beads. Tied to the bottom is a pair of Navajo jacla earrings. View jacla and beads. "Squaw wrap" finishes the necklace as it rests at the back of the neck. Near this area some small metal beads are also added. View squaw wrap and small beads. View opaque and clear beads. The combination of European trade beads and very traditional jacla shows the freedom with which Native American jewelry makers combined all available materials.
