Description: A fascination with the sciences appears in Garrison Buxton's art--both in creation and naming. Buxton's inventive painting process, "flash printing", requires a sound knowledge of the chemistry of inks and paints. Buxton's paintings are as much spontaneous as planned, This painting on paper and its title refer to recent photographic images of the red planet's topography--but in the poetic rather than the literal sense.
