Garrison Buxton large abstract triptych painting The Car

Description: It's not only in the naming that a fascination with the sciences appears in Garrison Buxton's art. Buxton's inventive painting process, "flash printing", requires a sound knowledge of the chemistry of inks and paints. View left close-up of "The Car..." triptych. View center close-up. View right close-up. The title refers to the 1992 crash of the Peekskill meteorite and a memorable photo of the car it hit. This event in which the cosmic and the mundane collided makes an amusing metaphor for painting. Oklahoma-born, Garrison Buxton is a recent graduate of Pratt Institute where he currently teaches printmaking. Buxton's studio is in New York City. View more Garrison Buxton paintings.
