Description: It's not only in the naming that a fascination with science appears in Garrison Buxton's art. Buxton's inventive painting process, "flash printing", requires a sound knowledge of the chemistry of inks and paints. View left close-up of "Muon Wobble.." triptych. View center close-up. View right close-up. For those not au courant of current astronomy, the "Muon Wobble" refers to a phenomenon that occurs due to "the strange sea of virtual particles that pop into and out of existence everywhere". It's an apt title for an abstract artwork that is part controlled gesture and part serendipity. Oklahoma-born, Garrison Buxton is a recent graduate of Pratt Institute where he currently teaches printmaking. Buxton's studio is in New York City. View more Garrison Buxton paintings. | |
