Description: When traveling, and at intervals throughout his career, non-objective painter James Burnett has taken breaks from abstraction and making large oil paintings returning to watercolor and to small-scale representational painting. In the 1960's, James Burnett spent time in Mexico learning watercolor painting techniques. During this stay, Burnett became fascinated by the light reflections on tiled surfaces and the design peculiarities of bathrooms. He has made a series of works depicting bathrooms in Latin America as well as some in the US. This precisely rendered painting shows a bathroom in Greenwich Village, New York City.
