Description: Contemporary sculptor Javier Astorga melds European and Mexican artistic traditions for inspiration in making his metal figurative sculpture. Recently Astorga has made a series of artworks relating to the ancient Huastec culture of eastern Mexico. This series and the related exhibition is called "La Huasteca desnudo del tiempo (The Huastecs Removed from Time)". The title refers to the fate of the Huastecs--or perhaps--of any once-brilliant culture. Made in metal with patina and spent fireworks casings, this medium-scale sculpture is appropriate for an interior space as a tabletop or pedestal piece. Click to view detail.
