Description: This drawing by contemporary realist painter Laura Shechter is executed in silverpoint. Laura Shechter is one of a small number of contemporary artists skillful enough to use this meticulous drawing technique in which one draws with a fine silver (or copper) wire. The trick is to make a line without piercing the paper. After long hours of slowly building up the drawing, the forms emerge--delicate and luminous.
