Description: SOLD. "44 Objects", an oil painting on canvas, is typical of contemporary realist Laura Shechter's non-atmospheric, meticulous realism. Beginning with very small scale works on panel in the 1980's, Laura Shechter has intermittently produced a series of shelf paintings with antique glassware and porcelain as the subject. The objects themselves are rather nostalgic, but Shechter's placement of them is not at all traditional: their relationships are tight--and a little tense--like people craning to be seen in a group photograph.
