Description: Always a student of art history, Diane Churchill has become especially influenced by the opulent colors of the East and by imagery from matriarchal cultures rich with goddess representations. In her 2001-2002 series of paintings on paper, Churchill has become increasingly abstract exploring the shimmering colors and rich textures of Asia but with less specific historical references.
