Description: Expressive realist printmaker and painter Sigmund Abeles captures expressions and unguarded moments. This image entitled "Solitaire" from 1978 was listed in the catalogue of the retrospective of Sigmund Abeles prints at Bates College Museum of Art in 1999. Writing the catalogue essay, director Genetta McLean notes: "By the late 1970's Abeles had achieved national acclaim as a printmaker." As spontaneous and alive an image as "Solitaire" explains Abeles' success. This signed and numbered lithograph is from an edition of 30. |
