Description: The subject of this steel sculpture is artist Janet Goldner's experience of re-entry into New York City after her extended visits to Mali in West Africa. Sculptor Janet Goldner's welded steel "books" have pages that are hinged together and movable; the pages read independently--but also as an overall image when the book is closed. This hinged sculpture with its bold images and lacy cutouts is an engaging presence on a large desk, mantel or tabletop.
Janet Goldner's art reflecting a belief in human dignity and the value of cultural diversity has been reviewed by publications including "The New York Times" and "Sculpture Magazine", and it is represented in public collections including: Islip Museum (New York) and Parkas Europos (Lithuania). Visit Janet Goldner's Tribeca (New York City) studio to learn more about her sculpting techniques and her Malian travels. View more Janet Goldner steel sculptures, screens and books. |
