Description: Sculptor Janet Goldner melds African and American imagery as well as social and aesthetic concerns in her welded steel works. This piece's title translates to "In Front and Behind" and refers to the inequitable positions of people in different cultures. Remarkably, the lacy cutouts have been made through heavy-gauge steel, a material strong enough to survive outdoors. The sculpture bolts into place via a small baseplate.
Janet Goldner's art reflecting a belief in human dignity and the value of cultural diversity has been reviewed by publications including "The New York Times" and "Sculpture Magazine", and it is represented in public collections including: Islip Museum (New York) and Parkas Europos (Lithuania). Visit Janet Goldner's Tribeca (New York City) studio to learn more about her sculpting techniques and her Malian travels. View more Janet Goldner steel sculptures, screens and books. |
