"Legend of the Unicorn" is an important work by fantasy painter Gary Slipper--a noted Canadian artist working in Mexico whose art deals with themes of mysticism, mystery and magic. Slipper uses a painstaking technique of underpainting and glazes that dates from the Renaissance. His surfaces are sublime and his subtle luminous colors scintillate. This painting took more than 9 months to create; it is an unusally large-scale work by the artist.
