"Golden Oval" is a wood carving from sculptor Nancy Azara's "Changes" series. This series includes timeless, readily-recognizable symbols from nature and myth. Azara's approach to sculpture is physical and expressive; the artist then sheathes her work with opulent color and gilding. The result is sculpture with an strong emotional presence beneath its rich surface. This wood relief, measuring 12" square by 2.5" deep, is painted and gilded.
