Description: Contemporary artists seem to find the American flag an irresistable icon for reinterpreting. Innovative kinetic sculptor Rein Triefeldt's deeply carved plywood, painted panel has the undulating motion built-in. The stars are in raised relief. Triefeldt's kinetic sculptures reside in public, corporate and private collections in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. A Triefeldt "Flyer" sculpture was featured at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics; two works by Rein Triefeldt appeared in the 2003 Dutch Biennial of kinetic sculpture.
