Description:
Since the late 1990's, Mary Teresa Giancoli has been working on a series of photographs documenting the culture of the Mexican community--both in Mexico and in New York City. Mexican rituals, festivals and food are her subject matter. Giancoli began her work at Our Lady of Guadalupe on West 14th Street in Manhattan recording people, such as this man, in quiet moments of prayer and devotion. Giancoli shoots in natural light with a twin lens box camera. Giancoli prints her photographs in limited editions of 20 or fewer. View all available works by Giancoli.
