Description:
Since the late 1990's, Mary Teresa Giancoli has been working on a series of photographs documenting the culture of the Mexican community--both in Mexico and in New York City. Mexican rituals, festivals and food are her subject matter. She visited the Piaxtla Tortilleria in New York City for this haunting image of a man hand-pressing tortillas. Giancoli shoots in natural light with a twin lens box camera. Giancoli prints her photographs in limited editions of 20 or fewer. View all available works by Giancoli.
