Description: Born in Hamburg, Gerlind Von Lwowski is a former ballerina who became a painter. This painting from the ballet Swan Lake shows the entrance of the black swan Odile in Act III. Because she so completely understands the ballet, Von Lwowski captures the line, gesture and drama of the scene most beautifully. The artist writes: "My ballet paintings are an explanation of the wonderful craft of dance and a depiction of ballet stories. My goal is to bring the public a little closer to the world of classical dance." Gerlind Von Lwowski's paintings evoke the period & spirit of classical ballet. Examples of the artist's works are also on view at The Gallery at Lincoln Center (New York City). |
