Description: This gouache entitled "Lunicycliste" is an study for the Rein Triefeldt kinetic sculpture of the same name. This study gives insight into the artist's thought process in making a sculpture: the drawing explores, in two dimensions, various aspects of the sculpture--the figurative elements, color and motion.
Rein Triefeldt's kinetic bronzes reside in public, corporate and private collections in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. A Triefeldt "Flyer" sculpture was featured at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics; two works by Rein Triefeldt appeared in the 2003 Dutch Biennial of kinetic sculpture. The December 2003 issue of the magazine "Sculpture" discusses Rein Triefeldt's work--especially the artist's recent forays into the world of large-scale solar kinetic sculpture.
