Description: This oil on canvas entitled "Transformation" by New York artist Gayil Nalls deals with the theme of creativity and self-invention. View detail. The painting has very thick impasto; it is signed & dated on the back: G. Nalls, 1981. In recent exhibitions, Nalls' work has grown more towards the sculptural and the conceptual. The interlinked circles image on the left of the painting prefigures Nalls' forms in her "FireClock" sculptural work from 2004. Nalls' "World Sensorium" was part of New York City's millennium celebration.
Whatever her medium, Gayil Nalls' work always provokes interest. Nalls has exhibited over the past 25 years in Soho (New York) and Chelsea (New York) galleries. Nalls' work is in the permanent collection of the George Washington University's "Brady Art Gallery". | |
