Description: Realist Laura Shechter paints controlled, constructed still lifes without atmospheric distortions and extraordinarily specific in detail. Shechter's style is sometimes referred to as "meticulous realism". The full title of this signed, editioned (38 prints) original lithograph is "Still Life on Red Velvet Cloth". The irony, of course, is that the print is in black & white. Shechter believes that colors can, indeed, be conveyed via a monochrome palette.
