Carved Ivory Sphere Gothic Revival This unusual objet de vertu is a large ivory rosary bead that opens to expose the central scene with three figures and two side panels--each with one carved figure. It dates from the 19th century and is representational of the Gothic revivals tyle. One hinge needs repair and the top of the sphere is slightly broken away at the point where this bead might have linked to others. However, these flaws do not detract from the object's beauty. DALOU Bronze 19th Century French This voluptuous piece was sculpted by Jules Dalou (1838-1902) who was famous for his superb figurative sculpture. This early lost wax cast of a well-known subject is stamped "AD"--for Atelier Dalou--on the base and has a rich golden-brown patina. Provenance: Sotheby's. CHECK AVAILABILITY. [500090]
